SKILLS
This is the list of skills of Hou YI
Passive
Chastising Shot
Cooldown: 0s, Cost: 0
Hou Yiโs basic attacks accumulate shooting states, with each stack increasing his attack speed by 4%, stacking up to 3 times. Once he reaches 3 stacks, he enters the Chastising Shot state, where his basic attacks shoot 3 arrows, dealing a total of 130% of the original damage. Each arrow deals 50% of the orb effect, and the state lasts for 3 seconds.
Tips: Hou Yi needs to land three basic attacks to trigger the passive effect. Once the passive is activated, he will deal significant damage.
Skill 01
Arrow Volley
Cooldown: 10s, Cost: 60
Hou Yi enhances his attacks, causing each attack to deal 90/118/146/174/202/230 (+75% Physical Attack) physical damage. If in the Chastising Shot state, each arrow deals 40% of the original damage and also deals 50% damage to two additional enemies in front (this additional damage does not carry the orb effect). This effect lasts for 5 seconds.
In Chastising Shot state, each arrow deals 60% of the orb effect to the primary target.
Tips: This is Hou Yi’s main damage skill. Combined with the passive effect, each basic attack can fire up to 9 arrows, making him highly effective in dealing area damage.
Skill 02
Afterglow
Cooldown: 7/6.7/6.4/6.1/5.8/5.5s, Cost: 60
Hou Yi commands the Tower of the Sun to attack, gaining vision of the target area and revealing enemy targets within the area for 2 seconds. Shortly after, it deals 300/360/420/480/540/600 (+100% Physical Attack) magic damage to enemies in the designated area and reduces their movement speed by 25%โ30% for 2 seconds (the slow and damage effects are halved for targets at the edge).
Tips: This is Hou Yi’s regular control skill. When used accurately, it can also provide a burst of damage. It can be used from a distance to harass enemies if necessary.
Ultimate
Burning Sun Arrow
Cooldown: 45/40/35s, Cost: 130
Hou Yi shoots a flaming arrow in the specified direction. If it hits an enemy hero, it will stun them and cause an explosion, dealing 700/1000/1300 (+90% Physical Bonus) physical damage to enemies within the explosion range. The enemy hero directly hit by the flaming arrow will be stunned for 0.5 to 3.5 seconds based on the flight distance of the arrow. Additionally, the splash damage after the skill hits will slow enemies by 90% for 1 second.
Tips: This is a very powerful initiation skill. If it hits a distant enemy, it will cause a long stun duration. Moreover, this is a full-screen skill, meaning Hou Yi can use his ultimate to support distant teammates at any time. However, when the distance is far, it’s necessary to predict the release direction accurately.

Li Bai

General Tips to Counter Hou Yi
- Hou Yi is fragile and lacks self-protection. Be cautious of your positioning during damage output. If it’s too dangerous to deal damage with normal attacks, harass enemies from a distance using the Sunset Afterglow skill.
Hou Yi Team Fight Approach
When using your ultimate from a distance for initiating fights, aim to hit the enemies for a focused takedown. Since Multiple Arrows’ split arrows will only target enemies in front of Hou Yi and within his normal attack range, you need to adjust your attack direction during combat to make the split arrows hit as many enemies as possible.
After triggering the Chastising Shot passive, activate the Arrow Volley skill to maximize Hou Yi’s normal attack damage. After reaching level 4, be aware of changes on the battlefield and use your ultimate to support teammates when necessary.
Gameplay Strategies for Hou Yi
As a pro gamer, consider these gameplay strategies for Hou Yi during the early, mid, and late game phases:
Early Game:
- Focus on farming and securing last-hits to quickly gain gold and experience. Avoid overextending and unnecessary trades with the enemy laner.
- Utilize the Afterglow skill to poke and harass your opponents, while also aiming to hit multiple enemy minions for efficient wave clearing.
- If your support has strong crowd control, coordinate with them to land your abilities for a potential kill or to force the enemy laner to retreat.
- Be cautious of enemy jungle ganks and ward river bushes to maintain vision and avoid surprises.
Mid Game:
- Continue farming and prioritize completing core items that enhance your damage output and survivability.
- Participate in team fights and skirmishes, using your ultimate to initiate or follow up on your teammates’ crowd control skills.
- Position yourself safely in the backline, taking advantage of your range and theAfterglow skill to deal consistent damage.
- Objective control is crucial during the mid-game. Use your enhanced damage from the Chastising Shot passive and Arrow Volley skill to quickly take down Dragon with your team.
Late Game:
- Stick with your team and avoid wandering alone, as you are vulnerable to assassinations from enemy champions with high burst damage.
- Prioritize your positioning during team fights to maximize your damage output, while also staying safe from enemy threats.
- Utilize your ultimate effectively to either initiate fights or peel for yourself and your teammates by stunning high-threat enemies.
- In team fights, focus on hitting as many enemies as possible with your Arrow Volley skill while maintaining the Chastising Shot passive for increased damage output.
- Pay attention to the minimap and use your ultimate to support teammates in distant fights when necessary.
- Work with your team to secure objectives such as Dragon, which can provide significant advantages in late-game team fights.
Remember, Hou Yi’s success heavily relies on proper positioning, strategic use of his abilities, and coordination with teammates for crowd control and protection.
